What we can do now

〜 With WordPress and you〜

Our lifestyle is changing drastically now. Life had already been moving closer to the web, but COVID-19 has accelerated this.
WordCamp is a place where folks interested in WordPress who are trying to make a difference in their lives gather for study, sharing, and fun.
Since the first event in San Francisco in 2006, there have been 1,064 events in 65 countries around the world. WordCamp was held in Ogijima for the first time in 2018, with 250 people gathered in a school gymnasium on a small island.

We decided to host an online WordCamp this year.
Ogijima is a beautiful location. We’ve noticed that many people have wanted to come to Ogijima and are glad that it’s a place worth visiting.

However, we decided to do what we can do now, for the sake of the day you can come.

Let’s meet online! And exchange our values no matter where you live.

Sharing and learning

Anyone who has used WordPress can teach others what it’s for and how to use it. If you’ve been wanting to learn more about WordPress but haven’t had a chance, please come! We hope that more people will get something out of using WordPress that will make life easier for them.

And by teaching, sharing, and connecting, we are also gaining something in return.

Each of us only has a small power, but when we come together, we are a great force. It’s good to do it alone, but there are so many things we can do with our friends, and so many things we want to try! This has been the theme of WordCamp Ogijima since 2018.

Connecting

At WordCamp Ogijima, we will focus on creating a place where everyone can connect online, rather than a lot of organized talks.
Anyone is welcome to the WordCamp, including bloggers, designers, developers, authors, marketers, SEOs, Businesses, Non-profits, photographers, consultants, and entrepreneurs. Whether you are a freelancer, or work with a company, come and share your experience, exchange information, and study together.
If you’ve never used WordPress before, but are interested, please come! We’d love to hear your motivations and thoughts on using WordPress.
And most importantly, we love to have fun. Let’s have fun and connect together.

What’s WordPress?

Have you ever heard of WordPress? Simply put, WordPress is a tool for building a website.
It’s built in open source where everyone works together to develop, and released under a license that guarantees freedom, and it’s free for everyone to use. 36% of the websites in the world today are built using WordPress.

What’s WordCamp?

WordCamps are informal, WordPress community-organized events.. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.
WordPress is supported by this community. WordCamp is a non-profit event, and is run by volunteers. In Japan, WordCamp has been hosted all over the country, with events big and small. Previous locations have included Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Ogijima (Kagawa), and Niigata.
