Access

Ogijima island is far and you need to think it as an extra interesting travel to get here. In this post, I’ll show you several transportation choices from Tokyo and Osaka to the ferry port, where we welcome you.

From Narita/Haneda Airport to Takamatsu Ferry Port

We have two international airports in Tokyo, Haneda and Narita. Both have the connection flight to Takamatsu airport. It might be much easier and cheaper for you to search for your flight from your city to Takamatsu, rather than buying separate tickets.

Once you arrive at the Takamatsu airport, there are buses that goes straight to JR Takamatsu station.

From KIX, Kansai International Airport in Osaka

There is no domestic flights that goes to Takamatsu. We recommend you three options to come to Takamatsu; bullet trains, bus, and ferry.

Trains

Take three different trains. It will take around 3.5 hours with the cost of around 10k yen.

  • The limited express Haruka: From JR Kansai Airport Station, which is just in front of the airport, the Haruka will get you to Shin Osaka Station in 50 minutes. 2,330 yen.
  • Shinkansen: From Shin Osaka to Okayama, it’ll take 50 to 70 minutes depending on the types of Shinkansen. The fastest one is Nozomi Shinkansen. 6,230 yen.
  • Marine liner: Marine liner is an express train that will take you from Okayama to Takamatsu Station. It will go across the Setouchi inland sea. 1 hour trip. 1,510 yen.

Bus

There are two buses you can choose from.

  • JR Shikoku Bus: The bus will go straight from Kansai International Airport to Takamatsu Station, around 3 hours trip, 5,150 yen. Timetable is here.
  • Footbus: There are several places you can get on board. Around 4 hours trip, 3,900 yen.
    • Osaka Station. Bus stops infront of shopping center, ALBi. Tickets can be brought inside bus from driver. Google Map here
    • JR Namba Station (Minatomachi bus-terminal). Google Map here

Ferry

There’s a ferry called Jumbo Ferry that departs form Kobe port and arrives at Takamatsu port. https://ferry.co.jp/pdf/jumbo-ferry-guide-book.pdf

To get to the Kobe port from KIX, there’s a bus from Kansai Kuko Daiichi Terminal station to Sannomiya Bus terminal, which is 20 minutes walk away to the port.

Access to Ferry port from JR Takamatsu Station

Ferry port for Ogijima is around 10minutes walk from JR Takamatsu  Station. Be sure to arrive with some spare time, since the ferry will depart at the exact time (9:00 and 10:30 for charter ferry) and there will be reception at the port for WordCamp.

Takamatsu Station.
View from Takamatsu Station. Walk toward the tall building. On the left, you can see the bus terminal, which is where the buses from airports and Osaka arrive.
Busus and the stairs to the Takamatsu port. “高松港方面” means “for Takamatsu port”
Go up the escalator or the stairs.
Once getting up, it’s an almost one-way bridge to the port.
View from the bridge to the port. The port is on your right side.
This sign tells you that you are on the right path.
This sign above is super confusing. It says ferry piers are on the left, but the ferries on the left side are for other islands, and the Ogijima ferry is on the right. So you go straight this path and turn right.
Turn Right here!
Walk downs the stairs and you’ll see us!

Once you arrive on Ogijima, WordCamp staffs will be there to welcome you all:)
